»Mass Shootings. The Holocaust from the Baltic to the Black Sea 1941 – 1944«

June 22, 2016 marked the 75th anniversary of the German attack on the Soviet Union as the beginning of an unprecedented war of extermination. Among the 14 million civilian victims of this war were more than two million Jews. They were murdered in mass shootings or suffocated in so-called gas vans. In the same way, some 30,000 Roma and 17,000 patients in psychiatric institutions lost their lives. Task forces of the security police and the security service of the SS, units of the police, the Wehrmacht and the Waffen-SS as well as local helpers carried out this mass murder.
The exhibition tries to give a face to the murdered, but also to the survivors of the crimes. At the same time, the actions and motives of the perpetrators as well as the cooperation of different groups of perpetrators are presented.

The exhibition was conceived by the Foundations Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and Topography of Terror, supported by Yahad in Unum and sponsored by the Foreign Office.
