Today, in addition to the Memorial to the Sinti and Roma of Europe murdered under National Socialism, construction work begins on the supplementary open-air exhibition.
On 24 October 2022, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the monument, there will be a ceremony and a supplementary open-air exhibition will be opened as an extension of the memorial ensemble. The exhibition at the Memorial was curated by the Foundation Memorial, designed by Dani Karavan and financed by the Commissioner for Culture and Media. At the heart of the exhibition are nine biographies of Roma and Sinti from Europe.
The exhibition is a permanent addition to the neighbouring Memorial to the Sinti and Roma of Europe murdered under National Socialism. Biographies of the persecuted and murdered are central. In addition, the new exhibition offers information on the Europe-wide dimension of the genocide, on resistance, the situation of survivors after the war, the civil rights movements of the Roma and Sinti as well as on the commemoration of the genocide.
