On 14 September, the Israeli Minister for Social Equality, Meirav Cohen, together with the German State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance, Prof. Dr. Luise Hölscher, visited the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. The visit took place as part of her visit to Berlin, together with an Israeli delegation, and accompanied by Tanja Lenuweit, cultural scientist and consultant at the foundation.
After a joint walk into the field of stelae, Cohen and Hölscher visited the exhibition in the Place of Information.
Wreaths were then laid at around 5:00 p.m., and Cohen spoke briefly about the still existing importance of Holocaust remembrance and the associated discussions about social equality in today’s world. As she noted, »This is about stopping the unjust, even if it’s popular.«
