Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, husband of US Vice President Kamala Harris, visited several Berlin memorials on 31 January 2023 as part of a trip through Poland and Germany.
Among other things, he visited the memorial and information site for the victims of the National Socialist »euthanasia« murders, the memorial to the murdered Sinti and Roma and the memorial to the homosexuals persecuted under National Socialism.
He laid a wreath at the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Afterwards, Uwe Neumärker, the director of the Stiftung Denkmal, guided through the exhibition in the Information Centre, where Emhoff signed the guest book. Finally, a meeting with contemporary witnesses took place, in which Margot Friedländer, Veniamin Erachmelevich and Sonya Tartakovskaya participated.
