A delegation of representatives of the Jewish communities living in Azerbaijan visited the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe on June 19, 2023. The delegation included Mr. Anatoliy Rafailov, Member of Parliament of Jewish Origin of the Milli Mejlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan, Mr. Milikh Yevdayev, Chairman of the Religious Community of the Mountain Jews of Baku, Mr. Alexander Sharovski, Chairman of the Religious Community of European Jews in Baku, Rabbi Zamir Isayev, Chairman of the Religious Community of Georgian Jews, Mr. Avraham Yakubov, Rabbi of the Religious Community of Mountain Jews of Baku, and Mr. Nurchin Aliyev, staff member of the embassy and group leader.
After visiting the Field of Stelae Martin Valchanov, speaker at the Holocaust Memorial, led the delegation through the exhibition at the Information Center. Finally, the group signed the guestbook.
The representatives of the Jewish communities of Azerbaijan were guests of the event series “Jewish Life in Azerbaijan” taking place in Berlin from June 19 to 21, 2023, which was launched by the embassies of Azerbaijan and Israel in partnership with several Jewish organizations in Germany.
