The participants and speakers of the anti-Semitism conference »Actions Matter«, organized by the European Leadership Network (ELNET), met at the beginning of the conference at the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe to lay wreaths and commemorate the victims of the Holocaust.
After a welcome address by Uwe Neumärker, Director of the Stiftung Denkmal, Avi Cohen Scali, Director General of the Israeli Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and for the Fight against Anti-Semitism, and Petra Pau, Vice-President of the German Bundestag, addressed the participants of the conference. Afterwards they held a minute’s silence at the wreaths in the field of stelae. Unfortunately, the survivors Eva Umlauf and Marian Turski were unable to attend the commemoration. The speech by Eva Umlauf was read.
ELNET is committed to a strong partnership between European countries and the State of Israel. The anti-Semitism conference »Actions Matter« began on Tuesday morning at the Axica Conference Centre with a welcoming address by the former German President and patron of the event, Christian Wulff. This was followed by a panel discussion with, among others, Katharina von Schnurbein, the European Commission’s Commissioner for Antisemitism, and Felix Klein, the Federal Government’s Commissioner for Antisemitism.
